Not even politics would make me quit the industry’ – Bob-Manuel Udokwu
Actor, Bob-Manuel Udokwu has said he is not about to quit Nollywood even if he is gunning for political office.
The actor, who is contesting for a House of Assembly seat in his native Anambra State, said that he is still very much active in acting and not planning to quit even if he becomes a member of the House.
‘I have been very active; perhaps you don’t have the time to watch. Only recently, I was nominated for Best of Nollywood Award in Port Harcourt and I was also nominated for the Giama Award, which happened last month in the U.S. Some of my movies I shot recently are coming out, so therefore, I am still very much there,’ Udokwu said

2015: Why I Want To Take Over From Tony One Week- Bob Manuel Udokwu
Soft-speaking Nollywood actor, Bob Manuel Udokwu has seen it all in the world of acting and looking rather seasoned in the business of governance.
Bob Manuel was reappointed by Governor Willie Obiano as Senior Special Assistant on Movie/Entertainment industry after serving under Governor Peter Obi as Senior Special Assistant on Creative Media.
With the full support of his boss, Bob has expressed his interest to vie for the Anambra State House of Assembly to represent Idemili North constituency under All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA.
“The desire to contribute to the political process of development/transformation in Anambra State and help garner support of my massive followership for the government prompted me to contest.
APGA is the party I chose because it is more like a movement than an ordinary political party in the South East. It is the party in power in Anambra State. I agree with its ideology of “togetherness for progress”. It has huge grassroots follower-ship. That’s why I joined the party” he told squealed.
However, the seat which he’s vying for is occupied by a fellow entertainer, Tony One-Week, who is also seeking re-election.
“ It’s a coincidence that the incumbent is also an actor. My contesting against him is nothing personal. Our people deserve better representation. I have toured the 10 towns with 12 wards that make up Idemili North Constituency. All I kept getting was complaints of non performance from the masses against the incumbent! We can’t let that go on for another four years” he explained
Speaking further on whether it would affect their relationship as colleagues in the movie industry, Bob Manuel-Udokwu said, “We didn’t have any special relationship before now, so the issue of it being strained doesn’t arise. We showed courtesy to each other whenever we met but we’ve not run into each other since my declaration to contest."
