I Didnt't Go Into Politics As A Poor Man - Desmond Elliot

I hate when people over bloat themselves. For me service Is what it’s supposed to be, that’s why from the beginning of my campaign, I never wanted any political godfather, no one is telling me I put you there, then you must do this for me. I’m eternally grateful to my party for seeing me worthy to be in that position’.

‘I don’t have an entourage, I just have myself, my PA and my driver and most times I do the driving myself. It’s a call to service because coming from a popular stand point I’m not seeking for popularity, the aim to leave a legacy of success and real change’, he added.

'I am hale and hearty and nothing shall be wrong with my soul' - Desmond Elliot

It seems some people want to derive joy in seeing talented Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, growling in anguish. Or how would one describe the rumour that emanated last week that the actor turned movie director was shot by some gunmen?

Recall that the handsome silver screen star picked the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest for the Lagos State House of Assembly election in 2015.

The rumour caused panic among his fans, colleagues and others, who were worried about his welfare.
But reacting to the speculation, Desmond Elliot’s publicist, Mr. Tunde Moshood, said the actor was hale and hearty.

Mr. Moshood quoted the actor as saying the rumour was the handiwork of his detractors.

“Please help me tell my fans that I am hale and hearty and nothing shall be wrong with my soul in Jesus mighty name. It is the handiwork of my detractors,” Desmond was quoted to have said by Mr. Moshood.

Some have already started asking ‘who wants to hurt the actor’? Others have even asked if the rumour was politically motivated.

Desmond is one of the most respected actors in the industry doing well. He recently expressed the enthusiasm to become a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2015. He also said he will not leave acting completely, but some have doubted that.

The actor revealed that he has never been a night crawler all his life but that politics has changed that to a large extent.

Speaking with City People on his reasons for joining politics, he explained that joining politics for him is an ambition he had nursed for many years but only joined at a time he considers the most appropriate time to declare his intention.

‘Politics has been in me for many years but I wanted a party which was progressive. My choice of APC was because its stronger and progressive. The party is one you can identify with. This is also a good platform and a good party. It has lots of PROGRAMS that cater for people’s welfare. It has so much differentiated itself from all others. This is one of the reasons why I decided to join the party,’ he explained.
